Trustee Paggt,Templs, K~ne,Berin~to,Terwil~iger,Mayor MoCa$ <br /> ferry,Treas. LeRoy and Atty. Schofield. Absent. Trustee Riley. <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order. Rol£ call. The minutes of the previous regular <br />special meeting were read. Upon motion by Trustee K~,ne and seconded by Trus- <br />tee Temple the minutes stands adopted as read. <br /> <br /> Mayor MoCaf~*erty ~unounced the regular order of business be. dispense with <br /> in order to hear from those who are present who wishes to speak before the <br /> members of the Board. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Jorgenson spoke on behalf of the delegation of residents from Mesier <br /> avenue who was present. ~rs Jorgenson announced that the purpose of the <br /> residents from Mesier Avenue being present at this meeti-ng was to petition <br /> the Board to have the General Case Company discontinue the burning of soft <br /> coal which is a public nuisance in the neighborhood. Mayor McCaffer~ty'annou- <br /> need that he had received a copy of letter sent to one of the resident by <br /> the Ge~neral Case Co. and he requested treasurer EeRoy ~o read the same to <br /> explain why the company was burning soft coal. as the letter stated that <br /> the hard coal was not available from the dealer and they were compelled to <br /> use soft coal to heat the factory building, the company had tried also to <br /> have an oil burner installed and also tried to convert the boiler to heat <br /> with gas bdt ~r. Travis informed them that oil burner was not available or <br /> could the central Wudson furnish the adapter for burning gas.Mayor McCaff- <br /> erty suggested that Trustee Kane and Mr. Gilmore call on Dr. O'Brien the <br /> Health officer to ascertain if the proper authority could be reached to <br /> have the dealer deliver some hard co~l to eliminate the nuisance. <br /> Mr. Fred Caire approached the Board and announced that the Garner Engine <br /> Company appointed him to come before the Board to request if fog nozzles <br /> would be purchased for the fire company which is something to be added to <br /> the equipment as several homes have oil burners installed and the type of <br /> nozzle is made for the purpose of fighting fires caused by oil he .had a <br /> lot of experience in the U.S. Navy usiug this type of nozzle. The same wa~ <br /> referred to Chairman Temple of the Fire Committee; <br /> <br /> Trustee Kane and Mr. Gilmore returned from conferring with Health Officer <br /> Dr. O'Brien and reported that they were informed that the burning of soft <br /> ,coal was a public nuisance and he would communicate with the District Heal- <br /> th Officer to see what could be done about the matter of getting hard coal <br /> for the company. <br /> <br /> The regular o~der of business w~s taken up as followed. <br /> Trustee Kane suggested we go on record agreeing with the residents of Mss- <br /> let Ave. of the burning of soft coal being a public nuisances. <br /> $ 25~0. Police Justice Beg~ report for the month of Novembe~ was read ann- <br /> ouncing that the sum of $ ~3.00 collected in fines was forward to State <br /> Dept. as to comply with the new law. <br /> <br /> ~ 25~I. Health O£~lcer Dr. O'Brien submitted the following report for the <br />*of November. DurinM the month there were great number of seasonal colds, <br /> some intestinal grippe and the latter part of the month some cases of Jau~. <br /> dice. There were no cases of contagious disease reported to health off- <br /> icer. There were however a case of tropical malaria in a soldierwho had <br /> just returned from New Guinea slides of blood were taken and the malarial <br /> <br /> <br />
