A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Police Station on Tuesday~Evening September I?th. I9~6 at ~ P.M. Those present; Trustee Riley,Kane,Berinato,Terwitlig~r,Acti.ng Mayor' Teml~ Treas. LeRoy and Atty. Sohofield. Absent;Trustee Paggi. ' T~e meeting was called to order. Acting Mayor Temple announced the object of the meeting was for the purpose of appointing a Mayor to fill the expired term of the Late James ~cCafferty or any other business that should come before this meeting, ~hereas,the office of Mayor of the Village of Wappingers Falls has becom vacant by reason of death of James A.McCa~ferty, the duly elected Mayor at an annual Village Election held on the 2Otb. day of March,I945, and ~here&s the term of said Mayor McCafferty would expire in the ordt~_~-ey course of events on the Ist. day of April,I947o Now Therefore on motion of Trustee Riley and seconded by Trustee Eerie, Br. IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Wappingers Falls~ Section I. ThAt there is by reason of the death of Said James A. McCafferty,a vacancy in the office of Mayor of the Village of Wappingers Falls; Section 2. 'That Helen McOafferty be and she hereby is appointed Mayor of the 7illage of Wappingers Falls to fulfill the unexpired term of said James A.MdO&ffert. y. (Carried) Trustee Xane read a oo~unioation received from Village Attorney Sohof- ield advising the Board of Trustees that the Board of Water Commissioners before entering into any contracts should submit the same to the Board of Trustees for their approval according td section 89. subdivision I~. of the Village Law as this provision puts the responsibility on the Board of Trustees as the Board of Water Commissioners acts only as agents. The question c~.e before the Board in regards to the corrugated drain pipe which the U.S. Government offered for sale and the same was discussed by the members of the Board. Trustee Kane reported that he had received a communication from the War Asset Adminstration .and was info,ed that the pipe could be inspected at Waterford,N.Y. and Trustee Xane stated that himself and Trustee Riley expect to make the tri~ to Waterford this comi~ Friday and they would .report back at a special meeting if the drain pipe i s satisfactory. ~?IO. A bond for excavating of village highways received from Oentral Hudson G & E Corp. ~was approved by the Tillage Attorney and ordered filed.
