N~bennestel, Zoning <br /> Enforcement Officer; Nancy Lowney, Recording Secretary <br /> <br />Others present: <br /> <br />Henry DLMarco, 9 Pleasant Lane, Wappingers <br />~ilio DiVorce, 12 Park St., Village <br />Keeler Pulling, 16 Remsen Ave., North, Village <br />Kathy Reg~n, ~ Park Ave., Village <br /> <br />Absent <br /> <br />Mr. Sterling VanWagenen <br /> <br />Chairman Savelli called the meeting to order 7:30 p.m. He requested a motion to dis- <br />pense with the rea~ing of the minutes and to approve same as written and forwarded to <br />all members by m~il. <br />Motion by Mr. Casey, seconded by Mr. Neuman to dispense with the reading of the minutes <br />and to approve same as written and forward2d to all members by mail. <br />Ail in favor; motion carried. Minutes approved as written. <br /> <br />Chairman Save]Ii stated the first order of business on the agenda would be a public <br />hearing at the request of Henry DiMarco, 9 Pleasant Lane, Wappingers Fa/is, seeking a <br />variance to convert a single family residence located at 10 P~rk St., village, into a <br />2 family residence. <br /> <br />Secretary read the Notice of Appeal, the Legal Notice as it appeared in the Southern <br />Dutchess News end also letter from Dutchess County Department of Planning which re- <br />commended following the zoning amendment and disapproval of the v~riance. <br />Chairman Savelli asked if e3_l within 200 foot re~ius of premises seeking variance were <br />notified of the hearing. <br />Secretary replied that all were notified. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons pointed out to the Board that since the Dutchess County Department of Plan- <br />ning recommends disapproval of the variance~ a majority plus one vote is needed for <br />the variance to be granted. He stated a resolution would be drawn up setting forth <br />facts and reasons for same. <br /> <br />Chairman Savelli then asked Mr. DiM~rco if he would like to address the Board. <br /> <br />Mr. DiMarco stated there was an article in the Poughkeepsie Journal concerning situations <br />where one family homes were being converted into two family hc~es as it helps to stretch <br />rents. He said there is a possibility that his son would need an apartment by October. <br />He pointed out it makes sense to convert; the price of rents is ridiculous. There are <br />2 family homes in the area and he can see no violation. He also stated that the con- <br />version would not change the character of the area. <br /> <br />Chairman Savelli pointed out that the two family h~mes in the area were there before <br />zoning. <br /> <br />Mr. DiMa~co stated that something has to be done. Ne does not feel there is any viola- <br />tion and it would not change the area. <br /> <br />Chairman Savelli amked if the structure would be changed. <br />Mr. DiMa~co replied no. He said that there would be living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, <br />and a bath downstairs; and there would be a living room, kitchen, i bedroom, possibily <br />l~ and a bath upstairs. <br /> <br /> <br />
