<br />Chairman Savelli called the meeting to order 7:30 p.m.
<br />He requested a motion to dispense with the ~eadlng of the minutes and to approve same
<br />as written and forwarded to all members by mail.
<br />Motion by Mr. Casey, seconded by Mr. Neuman to dispense with the reading of the minutes
<br />and to approve same as written and forwarded to all members by mail.
<br />All in favor; motion carried. Minutes approved.

<br />Chairman Savelli stated that the first item on the agenda would be the continuation
<br />of the public hearing requested by Community Services,5 Givans Avenue, seeking a
<br />variance to convert the Town Hall, 7 Mill St., into offices (2), 4 efficiency apts.,
<br />and two 2 bedroom apartments. Variances are requested due to shortage of square feet
<br />and parking.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Margaret O'Leary, Community Services Program, addressed the Board. She stated they
<br />needed the variance due to the shortage of square feet in the 4 efficiency apartments.
<br />The ordinance states they should have 750 sq. ft. and they only have 325 sq. ft. They
<br />do meet State requirements. The building is IIO years old. If the building is left
<br />to deteriorate, it would take another I10 years to repair it.
<br />Tr. Greco agreed that if repairs are not made the building would deteriorate and look
<br />like a slum.
<br />Mr. Neuman stated they asking for almost 200% in relief. It is a good prject but, he's
<br />having a hard time justifying their request because of the ordinance. They are supposed
<br />to show hardship.
<br />Mr. Smith stated this the best thing that could happen to the village.
<br />Secy. stated that the Board should grant the variance. If they don't get it, the build-
<br />ing will deteriorate and look Itke the Sweet Orr Building. Also, if it is not granted
<br />to them, it could go on and on with others.
<br />Chairman Savelli then requested that the Board go into Executive Session.
<br />Executive Session began 7:40 p.m.
<br />Executive Session ended 7:50 p.m.

<br />Motion by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Neuman to grant the variance, subject to Community
<br />Services buying the building, develop and keep same. If they don't, the variance be-
<br />comes void.
<br />Roll call vote: Mr. Neuman, aye; Mr. Casey, aye; Mr. VanWagenen, aye; Mr. Smith, aye;
<br />Chairman Savelli, aye.
<br />All in favor; motion carried. Varlance granted with the above stipulations.
