REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD AT MESIER <br />HOMESTEAD, WAPPINGERS FALLS~ NEW YORK - APRIL 4, 1989 <br /> <br />Present: Mr. Frank Savelli, Chairman, Robert Smith, Sterling Van Wagenen, <br /> Harry Greco, Village Attorney Viglotti and Mary Ann Wood, Secretary. <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson - 19 Franklindale AVenue, Wappingers Falls <br /> Mr. Joe Johnson - 19 Franklindale Avenue, Wappingers Falls <br /> Mr. Harold Reilly - 107 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls <br /> Mr. Felix Lopez - 3 Elm Street, Wappingers Falls <br /> <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:30. Motion was made by Sterling Van Wagenen <br />and seconded by Robert Smith that minutes of meeting held March 7, 1989 and <br />received by all members by mail be approved as written. Unanimously carried. <br /> <br />MR. AND MRS. JOSEPH JOHNSON, 19 FRANKLINDALE AVENUE, WAPPINGERS FALLS <br /> <br />Chairman Savelli stated that the first order of business would be holding of <br />public hearing on the application of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, 19 Franklindale <br />Avenue, Wappingers Falls seeking a variance to be able to convert their home from <br />a three family residence to a four family residence in a R2-F district. Sec- <br />retary read legal notice as inserted in the March 22, 1989 edition of the <br />Southern Dutchess News and Notice of Appeal #3-89. Secretary advised that all <br />property owners within a radius of 200 feet from subject property were furnished <br />a copy of the legal notice and Dutchess County Department of Planning responded <br />that they did not have any problems with the zoning referral. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson stated that he had had two heart attacks within 4 years. He would <br />like to give his son a place to live plus it would be very helpful for him with <br />the maintenance of the house. He stated that they had three families living in <br />the house at the present time. His wife and himself have one apartment, Mrs. <br />Johnson's father lives in another apartment and their daughter lives in the <br />third apartment. They are not interested in making money off of this proposal. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson stated that out of the 14 houses on.the street, 8 were originally <br />built as four family houses and the other 6 were converted to either 3 or 4 <br />family houses. <br /> <br />Mr. Reilly stated that he speaks for Mr. Lopez and Mr. Lopez has no objections <br />to the house being converted into a four family residence. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson stated that there was ample off-street parking for everyone. She <br />also stated that at the present time there is no apartment in the attic but when <br />they make the apartment for her son, there will be two floors. <br /> <br />Mr. Smith made a motion to allow the fourth apartment seconded by Mr. Van <br />Wagenen contingent upon Mr. Johnson putting in a second means of egress and <br />providing he adhere to all fire and building codes. Unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> <br />
