MINUTES OF ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING HELD $/10/98 Present: Bob Smith, Harry Greco, Bob Lewis, Sue Hodge, Floyd Hood and Mary Ann Bolander Others Present: Jim Hughes Tom Burke Trustee DiDomizio Village Attorney Viglotti Del Scheuer Mrs. Burke Mark Scism Meeting was called to order at 7:30p. m. Motion by Mr. Greco, seconded by Mr./Lewis to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as written. Unanimously carried I ONA POOLS, PA TIOS, SHEDS AND SPAS FOR PR OPER ~ A T R T. 9 & OLD R T. 9 First on the agenda was the continuation of a public hearing on the request of the above seeking a variance to be able to have a fence which exceeds the height requirement. After last months meeting applicant was supposed to bring in a comparison of the difference in price between a chain link fence and cast iron fence. Applicant brought in a price quote from Mid-Hudson Fence company for the cast iron fence in the amount of $42, 000. 00. Applicant stated he did not bring in the actual documentation for chain link but it would cost him approximately $I2,800. O0. He also stated that the insurance company would be willing to insure him for a 6'fence but for safety reasons and as a deterrent to vandalism they would prefer an 8ft. fence. (Copy of this letter is on file in the Planning/Zoning offices'). Mrs. Hodge stated if insurance company is willing to insure them with a 6fi. fence she feels that fence could be put up according to code. Mr. Scism stated that sometimes an extra foot makes a difference as it is more difficult to climb over it. Mr. Hughes stated that from an aesthetic point of view he does not see much of a difference between 6, 7 or 8fl. Mr. Hood stated the ZBA still has to consider the letter from the County Planning Board who had concerns re- garding the aesthetics ora chain link fence. Mr. Hughes again stated he does not believe in just flopping up a display. It will all be done in good taste and will be pleasantly maintained He also stated that the fence will not be removed when the displays are down for the winter months. Mr. Greco stated he felt a 9ft. fence would be very unsightly and he would recommend the Board reduce the size of the fence. Mrs. Hodge stated she does not feel that the issue of landscaping has' been satisfactorily addressed Mr. Hood made a motion to grant a variance for a 6fi. fence with l ft. of additional barbed wire on the tap for a total of 7 ft. Mr. Greco seconded the motion. On roll call vote - Mr. Smith - Aye, Mr. Lewis - Aye, Mr. Greco - Aye, Mr. Hood- Aye and Mrs. Hodge - Nay. The reason for her nay vote is that she does' not feel that the landscaping has been properly addressed MR. AND MRS.
