MINUTES OF ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING HELD $/10/98 <br /> <br />Present: Bob Smith, Harry Greco, Bob Lewis, Sue Hodge, Floyd Hood and Mary Ann Bolander <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Jim Hughes <br />Tom Burke <br />Trustee DiDomizio <br />Village Attorney Viglotti <br /> <br />Del Scheuer <br />Mrs. Burke <br />Mark Scism <br /> <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:30p. m. Motion by Mr. Greco, seconded by Mr./Lewis to <br />approve the minutes of the previous meeting as written. Unanimously carried <br /> <br />I ONA POOLS, PA TIOS, SHEDS AND SPAS FOR PR OPER ~ A T R T. 9 & OLD R T. 9 <br />First on the agenda was the continuation of a public hearing on the request of the above seeking <br />a variance to be able to have a fence which exceeds the height requirement. After last months <br />meeting applicant was supposed to bring in a comparison of the difference in price between a <br />chain link fence and cast iron fence. Applicant brought in a price quote from Mid-Hudson Fence <br />company for the cast iron fence in the amount of $42, 000. 00. Applicant stated he did not bring <br />in the actual documentation for chain link but it would cost him approximately $I2,800. O0. He <br />also stated that the insurance company would be willing to insure him for a 6'fence but for <br />safety reasons and as a deterrent to vandalism they would prefer an 8ft. fence. (Copy of this <br />letter is on file in the Planning/Zoning offices'). <br /> <br />Mrs. Hodge stated if insurance company is willing to insure them with a 6fi. fence she feels that <br />fence could be put up according to code. Mr. Scism stated that sometimes an extra foot makes <br />a difference as it is more difficult to climb over it. Mr. Hughes stated that from an aesthetic <br />point of view he does not see much of a difference between 6, 7 or 8fl. Mr. Hood stated the <br />ZBA still has to consider the letter from the County Planning Board who had concerns re- <br />garding the aesthetics ora chain link fence. Mr. Hughes again stated he does not believe in <br />just flopping up a display. It will all be done in good taste and will be pleasantly maintained <br />He also stated that the fence will not be removed when the displays are down for the winter <br />months. <br /> <br />Mr. Greco stated he felt a 9ft. fence would be very unsightly and he would recommend the <br />Board reduce the size of the fence. Mrs. Hodge stated she does not feel that the issue of <br />landscaping has' been satisfactorily addressed <br /> <br />Mr. Hood made a motion to grant a variance for a 6fi. fence with l ft. of additional barbed wire <br />on the tap for a total of 7 ft. Mr. Greco seconded the motion. On roll call vote - Mr. Smith - <br />Aye, Mr. Lewis - Aye, Mr. Greco - Aye, Mr. Hood- Aye and Mrs. Hodge - Nay. The reason for <br />her nay vote is that she does' not feel that the landscaping has been properly addressed <br /> <br />MR. AND MRS.
