MINUTES OF ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING HELD 7/7/98 <br /> <br />Present: Floyd Hood, Sue Hodge, Lloyd Frink, Harry Greco, Bob Lewis and <br /> Mary Ann Bolander, Secretary. <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> dud2/Morris <br /> Tom Burns <br /> Trustee DiDomizio <br /> <br />Mary Burns <br />Trustee ,Juliano <br />Elizabeth Stephant <br /> <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:31 p.m. Motion by Mrs. Hodge to amend the minutes of <br />the previous meeting as follows: Third paragraph, First sentence shouM read, "Mrs. <br />Hodge stated this is not a unique issue." Motion by Mrs. Hodge, seconded by Mr. Frink <br />to accept the minutes of the dune meeting as amended Unanimously carried. <br /> <br />MARY BURNS, 79 MARKET STREET, WAPPINGERS FALLS <br />First on the agenda was the continuation ofa public hearing on the request of Mary <br />Burns seeking a variance to be able to have parking in the.front yard at the above <br />address. <br /> <br />Ms. Burns presented her case. She stated she has a real concern about tenants parking <br />in the rear of the property because there is a hill back there and over time there has been <br />an increase in erosior~ Mrs. Hodge stated that applicant may be able to deal with the <br />problem of increase run off`by graveling area or installing drainage ditches. <br /> <br />Mr. Burns stated there is no place to pond the water and if the applicant had to install <br />piping it would be quite an expense to run it all the way from the rear of the property to <br />the front. He stated the piping wouM have to go underground, as you cannot let the run <br />off drain into the sanitary sewer. He also stated that the back yard is not very moist. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hodge asked applicant if she was living in the house now and she stated she is not <br />living there now but has plans to move back someday. Mrs. Hodge went on to state she is <br />not comfortable with putting parking so close to a sidewalk Applicant stated she would <br />go back with the parking as far as she could and not have cars hanging over on the <br />sidewalk She also stated she would plan the area so that it would be aesthically pleasing <br />to the neighbors by either planting a row of evergreens or having some nice planters <br />around area. <br /> <br />Mr. Burns stated there are oM dry wells in the rear of the yard and it is very unstable <br />back there. Applicant also stated that there have been three units there since 1956 but 40 <br />years ago some people did not drive and most families were one ear families. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hodge stated that in order to grant a use variance the applicant must show <br />practical difficulty and economic injury. Mrs. Hodge would like evidence of the dry wells <br /> <br /> <br />
