At that time there was a concern brought up by
Mr. Alexander regarding the illumination of the sign and its proximity to the residences
there. At that time the Planning Board consulted with Village Attorney Viglotti who
stated that the Planning Board can determine how bright the sign could actually be so it
did not infringe upon the local residents. Mr. Morris stated he had shared this
information with Mr. Walsh during a recent phone call. Mr. Walsh stated the
fluorescents are cool while and are about 35 watts. He went on to state that wattage has
nothing to do with the brightness of the sign, Mr. Morris asked Mr. Walsh if he knew
how many foot candles the lights would give offand Mr. Walsh stated he did not have
that information. Mr. Walsh went on to state there are two type of high output lamps that
are available - cool whites are dimmer than the daylights - daylights are brighter - if you
put them side by side you can see a noticeable difference. Mr. Walsh stated he uses the
cool whites. He stated there would be three lamps at 35 watts each. Mr. Alexander asked
if the sign coutd be made in wood - with down lighting and Mr- Walsh stated it is
possible but his client wants an internally illuminated sign. Mr. Alfonso stated there are
elderly people who live across the street and like to go to bed early plus the tenants in his
own building - therefore he would like to see three things (1) lower wattage, (2) energy
reflectors or (3) a wooden sign that is down lit, Mr. Alfonso also asked Mr. Walsh to
have his client explain to the Board why he painted the building white when it will look
black after the first snow fall when the sanders do their job. Mr. Walsh stated he has
