<br />MINUTES OF PLANNING BOARD MEETING HELD 5/1/08 <br /> <br />Present: Tom Morris, Chairman, Lisa Firstenberg, Vice Chairman, Don McCormick, George <br />Moran, John Chase and Mary Ann Loncto, Secretary <br /> <br />Absent: Kristina Costa <br /> <br />Others Present: Dom Parella Gabriella Owen <br /> Daryl Juliano Luis Pinto <br /> Mike Novick Denise Calabrese <br /> Carl Calabrese George Giorola <br /> Tom Snell Lou Snell <br /> Jay Paggi Jim Horan <br /> Jennifer VanTuyl Carlo Caldara <br /> Joe Sarchino <br /> <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Morris stated that the minutes of the April meeting, page <br />3 under Riverbend II, second line – needs to state “...... a 8.593 acre parcel.....” and he also stated he <br />would like to clarify that the name Billmer is correct. Mr. McCormick made a motion to approve the <br />minutes as amended, seconded by Mr. Moran. On roll call vote – Mr. Morris – Aye, Mr. Moran – Aye, <br />Mr. Chase – Aye, Mr. McCormick – Aye, Ms. Firstenberg – Abstain and Ms. Costa – Absent. <br /> <br />STARBUCKS, ROUTE 9/EAST MAIN STREET <br />First on the agenda was the proposal for signage at the new Starbucks at the intersection of Route <br />9/East Main Street. Mr. Dominick Parella representing M&G Services who will be installing the signs. <br />He stated what they are asking the Board to consider for the storefront elevation is 1 set of 16” <br />illuminated channel letters “Starbucks Coffee” and the words “Drive Thru” underneath which measures <br />7 sq. ft. The only exterior wall signs would be on the rear elevation which would be the words “drive <br />thru” again measuring 7 sq. ft. and the Starbucks logo - which is 9 sq. ft. The remaining signs are all <br />related to the drive thru system, i.e., the menu board, vehicle clearance bar, and two directional signs. <br />Total square footage of the signs that will be mounted on the building is 14 sq. ft for the two drive thrus <br />and 24 sq. ft. for the front elevation and 9 sq. ft. for the logo totaling 47 sq. ft. of signage. It was stated <br />that the signage conforms to the code. Mr. Morris stated that the applicant would have to supply the <br />Board with a sample of their colors. Mr. McCormick made a motion to approve the following signs: <br />(Sign permit applications 1-4 - Starbucks name on the East elevation of the building with the words <br />drive thru under it and on the rear of the building(West elevation) that has the words Drive Thru and <br />the logo contingent upon applicant supplying color samples, motion was seconded by Mr. Moran. <br />Unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Sign #5 is the menu board – it is a standard menu like you would find at McDonalds or Wendys – it is <br />approximately 32 sq. ft. - , Sign #6 is the vehicle clearance sign, Sign #7 is the exit only sign and Sign <br />#8 is the drive thru sign with the logo on it. Mr. McCormick stated he does not remember talking about <br />the hours of operation regarding the drive thru and he also questions the volume of the menu board in <br />conjunction with the noise ordinance. Mr. Morris stated if the volume of the menu board exceeds the <br />Village noise ordinance – it will have to be corrected immediately. Mr. McCormick made a motion to <br />approve the above signs #5 through 8 contingent upon applicant supplying the Planning Board with <br />color samples for the files, motion was seconded by Mr. Moran.
