Mr. Herb Moores representing Wappinger Properties who is
the new owner of the Texaco Station stated they are changing the brand from Texaco to
Valero. He submitted a report which shows pictures of the existing signs and a depiction
of what it would look like with the Valero signs replacing the existing Texaco signs. He
stated the canopy would be a one for one replacement. In order to have a better traffic
circulation on site - they would like to relocate the road sign to the southerly portion of
the property (adjacent to Village Square). He feels the area is a mix of residential and
commercial and he feels the new location and signs would be user and neighborhood
friendly. He showed the Board two new road signs - the first one would be 20' in height
and is a flag sign - it would be 150 sq. ft. of signs (calculating both signs of the sign). It
was stated that the existing Texaco sign is 16' in height and has an area of 84 sq. ft.
Applicant stated he is aware of our current size ordinances and stated that the frontage of
the building is 60 lineal ft. - existing total signage on property is 164 sq. ft. The total of the post sign
would be 96 sq. ft. for both sides - canopy sign is 35 sq. ft. so total area for these two
signs would be 132 sq. ft. Just to recap - existing signage is 164 sq. ft. - flag type sign
with canopy would be 196 sq. ft. and two post sign would be 132 sq. ft.
