MINUTES OF PLANNING BOARD MEETING HELD 5/6/04

Present: Tom Morris, Chair, Rob Alfonso, Vice Chair, Matt Alexander, George
Moran, Don McCormick and Mary Ann Loneto, Secretary

Others Present:
Danny Petrizzo
Mary Morris
Alfred Cappelli
Matthew Rudikoff
Damian Bo (Sign Fx, Inc.)
Mike Witkowski
Lou Snell
John Zambrano
Charlie DelBene
Eileen Sassmann

Chris Morris
Tony D'Arinzo
Raymond Van Vlack
Keith Hoffnagle
Trustee Enson
George Kolb
Bob Travis
Jim Sullivan
Michele Grieg

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Motion by Mr. Alfonso, seconded by Mr.
Moran to accept the minutes as amended (which was two grammatical errors and
changed by secretary) of the April 1, 2004 meeting. Unanimously carried.

GEORGE KOLB~ 3 MARKET STREET
First on the agenda was a request from Mr. George Kolb seeking permission to light an
already approved sign at 3 Market Street. Mr. Kolb stated there are three awnings which
were approved by this Board. Because the sign is so small and where it is placed, his
tenant in the building (who also resides on the second floor) would like to put three low
voltage spotlights from the awning (50 watts - casting approximately 28".) Mr. Morris
suggested gooseneck light coming down onto the sign. Mr. Kolb stated one of the things
he would like to do is "wash" the front of the building with light - with three separate
spotlights (one from each awning) which would accent the building with lights. The
lights would be shining up. Mr. Kolb went on to state with the goosenecks - because of
where the sign is located - they would have to put two lights directly onto the sign and he
feels that is too bright. Mr. Kolb stated that the bulb is approximately 2 ~A" in diameter.
Mr. Moran asked if there was anyone living on the second floor and Mr. Kolb answered -
yes his tenant rents the entire building. Mr. Morris then asked if the spotlights would
reach the windows of the second floor - and Mr. Kolb stated it may but did not feel this
was a problem since his tenant rents the entire building - in fact he may be buying the
building soon. Mr. Kolb stated if the Board had a problem with the three lights - he
would just install the one by the sign - he just thought it would accent the entire building
in the evening. Mr. Alexander asked if the lights were adjustable and applicant answered
yes they were. Mr. Alexander stated he felt that if a new tenant takes over the space -
he would have the fight to change the wattage if it is too bright. Mr_ Kolb also stated he
has no problem with the Board placing a contingency on his approval stating that if they
feel it is too bright - he would lower the wattage. At this point Mr. Alfonso made a
motion to approve the three lights at 50 watts each contingent upon Mr. Kolb agreeing to
lower the wattage if the Board thinks it is too bright and if the tenant on the second floor
